Lexie Alvarado

My Story

Lexie is not only a brave warrior—she’s an incredible little girl with a radiant spirit. At just

2 years and 3 months old, what began as a routine hospital visit for constipation turned

into every parent's nightmare. She was unexpectedly diagnosed with High-Risk B-Cell

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (HR B-ALL). Up to that point, Lexie had never even

been seriously ill, and within a matter of hours, our world was turned upside down.

The very next day after her diagnosis, Lexie began her first chemotherapy treatment.

Tests showed that nearly 78% of her bone marrow was filled with cancer. Her treatment

started immediately, and within just 20 days, she faced a critical complication—her

appendix burst, requiring emergency surgery. She spent 33 days in the Pediatric

Intensive Care Unit (PICU), battling infections and bacteria, her immune system

extremely fragile.

Despite it all, Lexie’s spirit never wavered. Even with a weakened body, she would walk

the hospital halls at 2 a.m., dancing freely, wrapped in blankets, smiling, and playing

with a ball—because she’s a true soccer lover. Her resilience is nothing short of

extraordinary.

Lexie is incredibly smart and full of life, but this journey has brought unimaginable pain

and change—not just for her, but for our entire family. The month she was diagnosed, I

experienced a serious car accident during my first time leaving the hospital. Our van

was totaled, and I was rushed to one hospital by ambulance while Lexie was in another

receiving blood and platelet transfusions. It’s a moment I rarely speak about.

My husband is our only source of support. He left his job to be by our side every step of

the way. Lexie is our only child, and she needed us—especially at such a young age.

Emotionally and financially, this has been one of the hardest experiences of our lives.

Lexie is still undergoing treatment and is currently in the second phase of maintenance.

With God’s help and our unwavering hope, we look forward to her finishing treatment in

September 2026.

She is our hero, our light, and our biggest inspiration.
